Course: FTW300J17– Fundamentals of Traditional Woodworking Inclusive
Fundamentals of Traditional Woodworking Inclusive – Fundamentals I, II, and III
The Fundamentals of Traditional Woodworking series is designed to give the beginning student a solid foundation in basic hand tool woodworking. Machinery and power tools are introduced for some functions, but the emphasis is on competency with planes, chisels, and other non-powered tools and techniques. This series is intended to be one continuous course, however the series is also offered as separate modules to accommodate those of our students who work during the day and cannot to commit to 12 weeks in a row. The Fundamentals Inclusive is one continuous course and offers the student who can commit to all three Fundamentals courses at one time.
For a limited time only we are offering a $200 discount to those students who commit to the entire series. (over the cost of the three funamentals taken sepaetly)
The courses progress from learning the basics of sharpening and hand tool use in segment I, through the making of a bench in segment II, and finally making a beautiful Shaker style table with dovetail drawers in segment III. All projects are made in solid wood.
The recommended text to accompany this series is Woodworking Basics – Mastering the Essentials of Craftsmanship, by Peter Korn (2003, The Taunton Press). While the Fundamentals series does not follow this book precisely, many of the techniques are the same and the projects are similar.
